Blog to Turi Riento

Moi everyone! First off I would like to say thank you for welcoming me here in Turku and taking me in as a member of this Riento Club, it’s been fun so far. I must admit when I first arrived I was a bit nervous because the language was very hard to understand. Four months later, I still don’t have a clue what’s being said around me but I can pick up on some key words. Some of the words I know are “moi, mita kaluuh, kiitos, hyva, andeeski, and the numbers 1-20” just to name a few things so I’m learning. My experience so far has been a good one to date, I think mainly because I feel right at home. The team is cool, and each and every day we’re trying our best to get better so I thank you again for supporting us throughout the season and cheering us on in our games both wins and losses.

When I first got here I told myself that I would like to make an impact on the team like I did on every other team I played on back in the States. Each day I have one job and that’s to go to practice and give it my all day in and day out and try to make my teammates better as well. Although, we haven’t won many games this season we still believe in one another and the possibilities at hand just taking it one day at a time. Believe with us. Our record of wins and losses is not indicative of the potential this team has, we’re better than our record shows. Enjoy the rest of the games because we sure will! We hope you continue to cheer us on all the way through the playoffs to the championship game!

On the basketball court I’m a fierce competitor and off the court I’m a friendly entrepreneur/business woman. I enjoy music and I enjoy laughter. I’ve been to the market a few times, and the malls both of which I enjoy going to every once and a while. I haven’t quite yet ventured out into Turku as much because I’m a “homebody”. I started my business Fan Favorite Apparel a couple months ago back home and I have been working on it ever since. “Fan Favorite” is a nickname acquired playing basketball back in the States so there people call me Fan Favorite, here I’m known as “Lucky”, both names are cool with me J One day I want Fan Favorite Apparel to be a nationally recognized brand and business but I know nothing great happens overnight! So off the court I spend a majority of my time researching, reading, and interacting with fans and supporters on my social networks to keep up with Fan Favorite. If you or anyone you know is into business I would be more than happy to have a conversation with them, I’m always trying to learn more.

“You don’t need glamour or exposure, hard work prevails.” That’s the main message behind my Fan Favorite movement and it is also a message I like to tell others.  Just continue to believe in yourself, be confident, and stay focused and you will be able to accomplish whatever you set out to do because dreams do come true. I’m living proof!
